Quickly drawn in Adobe Fresco. I imagined an aubergine but turned into something else. Could have changed the hue to a more purple but how long does one work on a quick piece.

“Mythical Creature” (2022)

Another mythical animal created in Procreate. Repurposed a palm tree from an earlier piece. It is overworked and I grew tired tinkering with it. Might be in the book I have been encouraged to produce.

“Hawk-nosed Koaloo” (2020)

Last surviving pair apparently killed in the fires which burned areas the Gondwana rainforests of northern New South Wales and southern Queensland.

A hurried piece created in Adobe Fresco on the iPad with an Apple Pencil. Need to draw this again. Not pleased with it but need to post the good (occasionally), bad and ugly which is usually.

“Masked Ruddy Lagoroo” (2019)

The Masked Ruddy Lagoroo was a quadruped with possible marsupial traits and believed to have inhabited dead or dying forests on the south island of New Holland. The only evidentiary specimens are several bones and a small patch of skin tissue which were found in an abandoned pitfall in the Nelbury Mountains. The discovery was the result of a little known expedition in the middle of the eighteenth century. The specimens remained forgotten in a drawer in a small church located in Andorra before they were rediscovered by an exchange student in 2003. Research into the origins and natural history of the Lagoroo continues.

“Rare Orange Giant Deer” (2019)

In the far uplands of the fifth hemisphere an image of a pair of the once thought extinct Orange giant deer was caught on a digital camera by hikers. Once common this deer is thought to have been eradicated by early man over 150,000 years ago. Cave drawings show this bright orange deer towering over humans as they throw rocks and projectiles at the animal in an apparent hunt for food. Since no known evidence of the deer being slaughtered for food or hides has yet been found the reason for the painted scenes remains a mystery. This sighting if verified will be an amazing discovery. And if it is a breeding pair are there more to be found? DNA samples taken from any evidence of these live animals would greatly aid in the research of this species and its relationship with early humans.
